Volver – To Return

Volver in English means “To Return” this 2006 Spanish movie was made in Madrid Spain and deals with some issues of whether the dead really do return to resolve issues left unfinished. In spite of how that might sound this highly rated Spanish movie falls under the comedy/drama categories.

The star of Volver is the beautiful award winning actress Penélope Cruz who just happens to have been born in Madrid. In the movie she plays the character of Raimunda who goes to Madrid with her daughter Paula, played by Yohana Cobo, and her sister Sole, played by Lola Dueñas. Their purpose was to visit the grave sites of their mother and Aunt Irene. From this point on the movie develops into many plot twists and turns that makes for a very enjoyable movie.

Volver would be an excellent movie to rent it has a very good cast and director. If you to want learn Spanish or would like to brush up, Volver has English subtitles. While you are watching the movie you can also be learning more vocabulary as well as experiencing Spanish culture.
